Capricorn Ale

Formulated and brewed by the Brewdaddy himself, it commemorates the great historical date of his birth under the sign of Capricorn (without which we CBC’ers wouldn’t be here). Originally, it also marked his turning the big four-oh (he’s not saying how old he is this year).

Capricorn Winter Ale is a rich, full-bodied, well-rounded red ale with aggressive malt and hop flavors- an ideal beer for these cold winter nights. Inspired by the tradition of India Pale Ales and Stock Ales, a judicious addition of crystal and roasted malts deepens the color and produces a smooth malty sweetness with notes of caramel and toffee. A generous amount of Centennial and Fuggles hops balances the malt and leads to a strong, hoppy, I.P.A.-like finish. The alcohol content is just under 7% by volume, enough to counter Old Man Winter’s bitter blow. Truly a practical, hardworking beer, crafted by a man of the same mettle.

Cheers,
PHIL, WILL, and BEN
