Resolution #9
Barrel-aged sour brown ale
Brewed in 2007 with a substantial malt bill of American and Belgian pale, caramel, and roasted malt with Belgian dark candi syrup, Hallertauer hops, and just a touch of coriander, orange peel, and ginger.
Four years of fermentation in Madeira barrels with a broad variety of microflora has created a sour but smooth beer of incredible complexity.
Dark brown and capped by a tawny head of foam, aromas of raisins, sharp acidity, and obscure Asian spices carry through into the palate. Accented by notes of sweet caramel, toasted pecans, and warming alcohol, it finishes completely dry. Its acidic character is dominant but smooth and well-integrated with hints of mocha, roasted malt and very subtle oak.
Only 110 gallons of this beer were produced, so we expect this special beer to go quickly!
